Payments Canada Forum – Extended Payment Settlement Hours
Following extensive work done by Advantage BC to build the case for extending bank settlement hours so that Western Canadian companies are not at a disadvantage, effective this September, there will be a third exchange closing at 6:00 pm (PT). This enhancement is one example of the advantages being delivered by Payments Canada as part of its modernization efforts to transform Canada’s payments ecosystem.
To help companies learn how to take advantage of this opportunity, Advantage BC will host a forum with Payments Canada. Join us for an interactive session on May 31st from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McCarthy Tétrault’s Vancouver office to discuss the benefits and opportunities of modernizing, including an understanding about the additional Automated Funds Transfer windows with two-hour funds availability that will come into effect this fall.
This new exchange window at 6:00 pm (PT), will allow originators based in the West to send files to their financial institutions closer to the end of our working day. The gateway of possibilities that this new exchange window will open is only the beginning of the advantages to come. From access to richer data through the adoption of ISO 20022 and the go-live of real-time payments capability, coupled with other milestones, the path Canada is on today will combine to strengthen British Columbia and Canada’s overall competitive position as a global leader.
Come prepared with questions and come away knowing how you can start to take advantage of payments modernization. Justin Ferrabee, Payments Canada’s Chief Operating Officer will kick of the session with a level-set about payments modernization. As a moderator, he will then guide a panel discussion to share reflections about the opportunities and advantages.
