Policy Playbook for Economic Prosperity in British Columbia

The Policy Playbook for Economic Prosperity in British Columbia is BCBC’s provincial policy agenda for 2026–27.

B.C. faces weak economic growth and a trade dispute that is putting more pressure on businesses and jobs. BCBC’s September analysis estimates that roughly $3.8 billion (about 14% of B.C.’s U.S.-bound goods exports) are potentially subject to the new 50% U.S. tariffs, while Canadian counter-tariffs raise costs on imported business inputs.1 These external pressures make it more urgent to address the barriers to growth that are within the province’s control.

This Playbook sets out the Business Council of British Columbia’s (BCBC) provincial policy priorities for 2026–27 to strengthen investment, raise incomes, and sustain public services. Its recommendations support three goals: restoring fiscal sustainability; retaining and attracting talent and capital; and creating a more predictable investment climate. They provide a framework for provincial action at a time when households, businesses and government have less room for weak results.
