Statement: Heritage Conservation Act Technical Policy Paper

Last year, the Business Council of British Columbia (BCBC) raised serious concerns about proposed changes to the B.C. Heritage Conservation Act (HCA), which were outlined in a detailed submission to the province

Today, we have received the province’s technical policy paper and note improvements that respond to several of the concerns we raised.

Given the complexity of this issue, we are taking time to thoroughly review the report and gather feedback from our members before providing more detailed comments.

It is our hope that the proposals adopted by government strike the right balance between modernizing the HCA and supporting economic growth in British Columbia.
